Last Thursday, I had the unique honor of photographing GR Unveiled, a wedding show dreamed up by Joy’l Ver Heul and Aletha VanderMaas to showcase hip, contemporary wedding vendors from Grand Rapids and the surrounding area. It was such an honor to be a small part of the evening and to be able to walk around taking in and capturing all of the creativity inside the building in photographs. I was so inspired by the beautiful floral arrangements, the creative displays, the to-die-for cakes, and all of the handmade accessories that were peppered all around. The show truly felt different than any I had been to before. It was a bunch of people in love with what they do – and that inspired me to no end. I hope the photos here will inspire those of you planning your wedding or any other event where you just need a little something different!
Each guest received one of these swag bags filled with many exciting goodies. I love how they were arranged with such care and looked like they were just jumping off of the table!
Natalie of Stems Event Design had these tables glowing gorgeously along the entranceway:
These Serendipity Cupcakes were delightful! I loved how the wrappers made them each look like tiny little presents!
Some jaw-droppingly (What, you don’t use that word?) beautiful creations by Events by I.Candy:
I loved the feel of custom wedding gowns coming together over at Vue Couture’s space:
As one of the masterminds behind GR Unveiled, I was so excited to see what Aletha of Pearls Events would cook up! Her 1950s-inspired space was a dream!
Kelly from A Piece O’ Cake had these amazing cakes on display. I mean, really, I can’t even fathom creating flowers like that!
Forrester Farms had a totally radiant space; it glowed from top to bottom and I was definitely inspired by the dreamlike feel!
Daisy of Pixel & Hank was full of inspiration with all of her creations. I loved the shoes and I also loved how adding something so simple could spice up just about anything!
A lovely wedding ensemble from September’s Bride and hip place setting from Art of the Table:
GR Unveiled was my first trip to St. Cecilia’s Music Society and I think I fell in love. It was a gorgeous space, perfect for a wedding.
Awesome pieces from Lisa of Studio Jewel and Kate DeKoster Handmade:
I loved this chair over in the Jill Devries Photography space, the handbag by Lucy Grey, and invitation from Joy’l – the other mastermind of GR Unveiled – of Paper Nest Designs. :D
And, how can you not be inspired when you have gelato and sorbet? Palazzolo’s did it up real nice with some super refreshing flavors!
Lamb had a gorgeous space with so much to inspire. I loved these bottles and their little wrapped boxes. I wonder what was inside… :D
And, finally, the ladies who made it all happen! A big thank you to Aletha and Joy’l for dreaming up such an amazingly different wedding show. Thank you for not having a machine that grooms step inside to try to catch dollar bills as the air gusts swirl them around his head. Thank you for not having a fashion show with dresses that don’t fit the models. And thank you for not having tulle. I was honored to be a small part of the event with such a stunning group of vendors. Congratulations to both of you and amazing work in helping to inspire brides!
